Meet Dr. Kyler Black

A Utah Native Committed to Whole-Person Healing

Dr. Kyler Black was born and raised in Spanish Fork, Utah. He loves being physically active and spending time outdoors with his wife and their five children. He enjoys hiking, playing basketball, working on projects at home, or enjoying a game of pickleball.

A Doctor with a Personal Reason for Pursuing Functional Medicine

Dr. Black became a doctor because he wanted to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the patients he would serve.

During his training, he watched some of his own family members struggle with health issues that weren’t fully addressed by traditional medical approaches. Watching the people he loved and the patients he was treating as a primary care provider search for answers sparked a deep motivation to look beyond conventional pathways and explore root-cause–focused solutions.

That realization led him to functional and integrative medicine, where he discovered a more personalized and effective way to help individuals heal and achieve their optimal quality of life.

A Provider Patients Trust

Patients consistently describe Dr. Black as warm, approachable, and genuinely invested in their well-being. He takes time to listen, understand each person’s story, and partner with them to build a clear path forward. His goal is simple: to help people feel seen, supported, and empowered as they move toward better health.

Training

After graduating from Medical School, Dr. Black completed a four-year residency in Internal Medicine–Pediatrics – a unique residency program that provides training in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He is often asked what exactly Internal Medicine is. Internal Medicine doctors are “adult-health specialists.” They have in-depth training in managing complex and chronic illnesses as well as all general health concerns in adults.

While working as a Primary Care Physician treating both kids and adults, he completed a 2-year fellowship in Integrative Medicine and then a two-year fellowship in Functional Medicine. In his Integrative Medicine training, Dr. Black learned about evidence-based interventions outside of medication – including specific diet and food interventions, herbs, vitamins, minerals, sleep habits, exercise regimens, stress management techniques, and many other modalities – that can be used with, in addition to, or in place of medication to treat disease. He added to that knowledge in his Functional Medicine fellowship by learning to look deeper to find the root cause, how to interpret lab work to unearth root causes, when to use more in-depth testing, how to interpret those results, and to create personalized plans that address the pillars of health to achieve optimal wellness.
